ABSTRACT

This project research is on the role of financial institution in economic development of small scale business in Uyo metropolis with particular reference to Uniuyo Microfinance Bank and some selected small businesses in Uyo. In carrying out investigations of the problems, some questionnaires were treated as guides. Data were collected based on the questionnaires through both primary and secondary sources. The data were using tables and simple percentages, as well as Taro Yamane formula as away to determine the sample size, based on the findings it was concluded that the small scale business firms are integral part of the total business scene in Akwa Ibom State. Huge financial problems face the firms and their survival is a function of huge capital loan. It was then recommended to create an enabling environment for the firms to obtain loan for survival.
