ABSTRACT

This study was carried out to investigate into the adoption of improved cassava processing technologies by women in Akamkpa Local Government Area of Cross River State, Nigeria. To achieve this objective, five research questions and two research hypotheses were formulated to guide this study. The data was collected from both primary and secondary sources. The primary data were collected with the help of a well-structured questionnaire of two sections administered to the women farmers in Akamkpa Local Government Area Cross River State, Nigeria. The collected data were analyzed tables and descriptive statistics to analyze the research questions while t-test statistical method was used to test research hypotheses. All data were coded using SPSS software. The study reveals that the socio-economic characteristics and institutional factors of women improved cassava processing technologies in Akamkpa  Local Government Area Cross River State, Nigeria and the level of awareness improved cassava processing technologies in Akamkpa  Local Government Area Cross River State, Nigeria. The study concluded with some recommendations that government of Nigeria should encourage backward integration for greater industrial utilization and at the same time, support existing farmer’s production systems through an effective input delivery system.
