ABSTRACTIn order to facilitate a scientific assessment ofthe viability of the IAR4D concept, this paperanalyzed the factors affecting adoption ofagricultural technologies as well asdetermined the profitability of cereals andlegumes in the Sudan savanna of Nigeria.Data were obtained from the baseline studyconducted in 2008 as well as other officialsecondary data. Descriptive statistics,budgetary as well as logistic regressiontechniques were used to analyze the data.Results show that the respondent’s age rangevary between 40 and 55 years implying thatthey are relatively young elders with largefamily size of between 12 and 14 possiblyproviding family labour for farm work. Theeducational level is expectedly low with onlyabout a third ofthem having up to six years offormal education.
