The low participation of women farmers inagricultural extension services in Yilmanadensa district is the main reasonfor conducting this study. Therefore, this study is conducted to investigatethe determinant factors of women’s participation in agricultural extensionservices in Yilmanadensa district. The study adopted cross-sectional surveyresearch design. The paper is based on a review of literature and ananalysis of data collected from127 sample respondents using a semistructured questionnaire. Qualitative data were collected through keyinformant interviews and focus group discussions. Binary logit regressionwas employed to analyse the collected data. It was found that farmingexperience, sex of the development agent and access to credit showssignificant and positive relation with participation whereas, time spent ondomestic activities and sex of the household headship shows significantand negative relationship with women’s participation. Thus, appropriatenumber of female agricultural extension workers should be assigned, laborsaving and women friendly technologies should be promoted anddisseminated through the extension system.
