ABSTRACT

The foundations of Modern Western Science is traceable to the ancient classical Greek Philosophers. Thales of Miletus who postulated  that the ultimate stuff of the universe is water contributed to the science in its ways of corroboration, observation, experimentation, etc. of Modern Western Science.  ‘Empiricism’ is the scientific affirmation or confirmation of every knowledge claimed, which must conform to any of the five external senses. Anaximander postulated that the apeiron is the ultimate stuff of the universe gave contributed to Modern Science in the area of Biology and Embryology. Charles Darwin toed that path when he discussed on the theory of evolution. Anaximenes postulated that air is the ultimate stuff of the universe contributed to change in Modern Western Science where by observation, ‘air changes to wind’ wind to cloud, cloud to water’ brought about the nitrogen cycle. Pythagoras postulation of the universe contributed to mathematics where he believed that all relations could be reduced to numbers, and he is also known for his theory called ‘Pythagoras Theory’ used to solve some mathematical problems. Aristotle’s conception of the universe ‘also contributed immensely to the Modern Western Science which brought the debate between the geocentrists and the helocentrists pertaining to what is at the center of the universe.
