ABSTRACT
The work on language use in brief biographies of deceased male and female subjects were carried out with the objective to identify features of language used by authors in composing the biographies of male and female subjects. Adopting Aristotle’s Rhetorical theory and other aspects of rhetoric and oratory as framework, excerpts that revealed the rhetorical features of interest were analyzed at the levels of rhetorical choice and lexical choice.Only a few figurative expressions were found in the material.
