ABSTRACT

This study was carried out to assess exposure to body fluids among health care workers in Delta State University Teaching Hospital. To achieve this objective, five research questions and five research hypotheses were formulated to guide this study. The primary data were collected with the help of a well-structured questionnaire of two sections administered to health care workers in Delta State University Teaching Hospital. The collected data were analyzed tables and descriptive statistics to analyze the research questions. All data were coded using SPSS software. The study revealed that health care workers are significantly exposed to body fluid hazards in Delta State University Teaching Hospital; age is significant predisposing factor of health care workers exposure to body fluid in Delta State University Teaching    Hospital; gender is significant predisposing factor of health care workers exposure to body fluid in Delta State University Teaching Hospital; years of working experience is significant predisposing factor of health care workers exposure to body fluid in Delta State University Teaching Hospital and job category is significant predisposing factor of health care workers exposure to body fluid in Delta State University Teaching Hospital. The study concluded with some recommendations that the State government should provide protective devices against body fluid hazards by health care workers in the state hospitals.
