ABSTRACT

This study was carried out to investigate HIV/AIDS risk behaviour among secondary school student of Nassarawa Local Government Kano State. To achieve this objective, four research questions and two research hypotheses were formulated to guide this study. The data collected were analyzed using simple percentages and tables to analyze research questions while Chi-square statistical method was used to test the research hypotheses. A structured questionnaire was used as the major instrument for data collection from the selected SS 2 secondary school students in Nassarawa Local Government Kano State. After the careful analysis of the data, the following findings were revealed that; there is a significant difference on sexual behaviour and knowledge of sexually transmitted disease including HIV/AIDS among students in Nassarawa L.G.A Kano State and the extent which knowledge on sexually transmitted disease including HIV/AIDS is high. The study concluded with some recommendations that there is urgent need for sex education for youths at every level of their education which should be organize, executed and finance by the government agency like the National Action Committee on AIDS (NACA) at Federal, State, Local Government level and other relevant and concern non governmental agencies.
